Understanding, Belief, Action

" Companies or organizations that lack a well-formulated mission offer people little to commit to. Employees need a clear sense of an organisations core values to form an allegiance to them. "
Daniel Goleman, Emotional Intelligence

Reaching for a Goal, anchored in a Vision: A strategy for success.

The VISION is the belief system in which you operate. The DESTINATION is an immediate (or long term) GOAL that brings your vision to life. In 1963, the DESTINATION was the moon. John F. Kennedy's powerful VISION was about America's place in the future, and safety in the knowledge that America was number one in outer space. The destination of the Moon galvanized industry, technology, computer science, and a new American Dream.

A strong Vision and clear Destination: The core of a great presentation.

History teaches that faith without a goal falteßrs. If you haven't got a destination, get one. Example: You desire that your two communities next to each other live in harmony (Vision). Someone says " let's build a bridge for pedestrians, between our communities, across the river! " The Vision is brought to life. Now imagine wanting to build a bridge across the river (Destination), but you were trying to raise the finance for it. That's where you need a VISION behind the bridge, which is the belief that your communities should work together and share their lives in harmony.

Understanding, Belief and Action

First, you want your audience to UNDERSTAND what you're saying. This requires elegance, simplicity and clarity. Then, you want them to BELIEVE in what you're saying. This is not easy. Belief requires touching emotions and inspiring your audience. A tall order in business, but absolutely vital in our competitive world -- and at the heart of VisionDestination.

Finally, it should be crystal clear what ACTION they need to take. ie: Invest in your project, put in more work hours, build relationships with a new company, come up with new business plans. Sign the contract.
